Open Source Prizes awarded

We are still working on evaluating the Grand Prize, and will have more to share about that very, very soon. In the meantime, however, we still have the Open Source prizes to announce!

While most people were laser-focused on the Grand Prize in December, we still got a number of solid submissions. Congrats to all the winners! We’re excited to do a LOT more open source / progress prizes soon, as we enter the next phase of the competition…

Yao Hsiao / @Yao_Hsiao with segment maps ($3,000)

We specifically asked if someone could make a tool to help map out segments in 2d, and Yao delivered with a solid prototype!

Sean Johnson / @bruniss with large segments and colab notebook ($3,000)

Sean submitted two extremely useful things: about 70cm2 of segments and a ready-to-go colab notebook with Youssef’s model, for easy experimentation.

Julian Schilliger / @RICHI with Crackle Viewer ($3,000)

Julian has kept improving his Crackle Viewer, with new features to help annotating crackle, such as improved flood-fill and manual drawing.

Youssef Nader / @YoussefNader with Scroll 4 finetuning ($3,000)

Youssef did finetuning on Scroll 4, which seems to result in some shapes, which might be letters (but it’s a bit too early to call). We’re excited to see where he takes this!
